New York Sate Mountain Top Marriage Proposal (Adirondacks)
My girlfriend (now my wife) and I went out for a nice 14 mile round trip hike in the Adirondacks in the summer of 2008. I had planned on proposing on a hike the weekend before, but a friend of ours extended a last minute wedding invitation and the hike got cancelled! So, with a new hike planned and her grandmother's ring in my hydration pack, we summited Cat. Mt. in Western Adirondack Park. We ate lunch, even though I could barely eat I was so nervous! I waited for a few other hikers to leave the summit and I suggested that we take a picture using the timer on our camera. What she didnt realize is that i purposely set the camera on "video" and captured one of the best moments in both our lives. The view was amazing as this was the same mountain that I first got my wife to hike just one year earlier, she wasnt much of an outdoorsy girl when we met. But getting her to experience views and memories like this, she's now a self-proclaimed full-fledged mountain girl!
