Newark FOP Leadership Rejects City's Proposal to Save Police Jobs
Acting Business Administrator Julien X. Neals, Esq. discusses the Newark FOP leadership's rejection of the City's proposal to avoid 167 police layoffs. On Saturday, November 20 the FOP leadership stated it would allow its entire membership to vote on the proposal; however, FOP leadership instead rejected the proposal on its own. The City's one-year counter proposal would have eliminated raises, uniform allowance, stress pay, and reduced overtime, replacing it with non-paid time off, for the 167 police officers affected by the layoffs.
