Casey Anthony Verdict
This is the live courtroom feed as the Casey Anthony verdict by the jury was read. Though the defense was by all counts preposterous -- that the child had drowned and her grandfather had dumped her body in a swamp near the house -- the defense's trick of proposing totally unreasonable explanations distracted the jury from its job of making a reasonable doubt decision. Unfortunately Caylee, the murdered child, could not testify as to who put duct tape over her nose and mouth. Casey was given the benefit of the unreasonable doubt and was found not guilty despite a mountain of evidence. If the infant's grieving grandfather who smelled the dead body odor in his daughter's car and then attempted to commit suicide could reasonably be considered as involved in the death and disposal of his grandchild, then it's also reasonably possible that Martians visited Earth and put that duct tape over Caylee's mouth and nose. Common sense -- reasoning -- did not prevail. I predict that karma will catch up with Casey Anthony, just as it did with OJ Simpson. And I predict that George Anthony, Casey's father, will get to the bottom of this. Sometimes, where courts fail to provide the remedy, those who suffered, those who truly, honestly, and terribly suffered, find the remedy outside of the failed court system. We will see.
